Here's a short version of my story...
Born and raised in Sydney Australia, I have lived all my life in and around Sydney's famous Northern Beaches area. I have traveled to some fantastic places, met many wonderful people but love to return home.
When I was a young lad my mother called me the "Little Inventor". Later in life friends called me "Mr Gadget". I was always playing with stuff to find out how it worked. After attending university for my Electrical Engineering degree, I was employed in a research and development capacity for a medical electronics company. That's where I also grew a deep interest in maintaining health before any problems occurred.
I have built and supported electronic test and measurement systems, designed and manufactured furniture, worked in acoustics and built public address and amplified music sound systems for large halls. I was also a semi-professional musician, live sound mixing engineer, studio recording engineer, video cameraman, photographic model and actor.
Needless to say I keep myself busy and am inspired by many things.
I found that surfing, windsurfing and snowboarding got me excited to be outdoors. I have climbed high mountains and jumped off them with ropes and hanggliders.
Working as a research electronics engineer for nearly 20 years, I transitioned into client service, support and then sales. I built a number of high-tech devices (including altimeters for hanggliders and speedometers for windsurfers) and learned an immense amount about the requirements of every step of a product life cycle, from idea to production, development, marketing, sales, finance, customer support & documentation. A stint as a support guy with Microsoft exposed me to the internet when it was still populated by geeks.
As founder of SmartFone and Managing Director of Trius Technology, I have been developing telecommunications tools and web marketing systems for many years. Some worked well... some not so well... lots of money was well spent... and lots of experience was gained.
In 1994, when Australia started deregulating telecommunications, I started a telecommunications company which provided some of the first phone cards, internet services, websites, and prepaid mobile phones in Australia. We were instrumental in introducing the very first Video Telephones for domestic and commercial use in Australia. Many of these are still in operation today.
In 1990 I was introduced to network marketing by a good friend. With great belief in the process of referral and affiliate marketing, over the next few years I built a number of business organisations to many thousands of happy affiliates and distributors which to this day still provides me with great passive income.
In 2005, after funding ran out on a conference call that I co-hosted for nearly 6 years, I decided I wanted to set a conference call up for myself but was amazed at how the price remained the same for 10 years but the price of telecommunications had crashed with the advent of VoIP technology.
I had always kept my eye on the VoIP industry for technical interest and personal requirements but when I started looking I could only find ONE company who could do what I wanted... It was a relatively small company (by telecomms standards) called Net2MAX, in Sydney's Chinatown. It's hard to believe that I scoured the world and found them just down the road. They had been in the VoIP business for nearly 10 years (the longest of any Australian company) and had developed a superior range of services that NOBODY else could provide.
I made a few requests, then suggestions and then a proposal to help market their services. The rest is history. SmartFone is now their world-wide marketing partner. It's a joint venture, symbiotic relationship. We need each other. And our futures are inextricably linked.
I like to ask everyone what they want most in life. Freedom from financial and health stresses usually tops their list. With health and finances under control you can afford to spend time doing all those other things you wanted to, like travel, learn a new language, renovate the house or work for a charity.
